A total of 24 million air travelers are projected to travel on U.S. airlines during the 2010 Thanksgiving season (between Friday, Nov. 19-Tuesday, Nov. 30),  according to industry trade association Air Transport Association of America (ATA).

This represents a 3.5% year-over-year increase.

Daily passenger volumes this Thanksgiving season is estimated to range from 1.3 million to 2.5 million.

The ATA used sample data from Thanksgiving 2009 to predict that the four busiest travel days of the 12-day period would Sunday, Nov. 28, Monday, Nov. 29, Friday, Nov. 19 and Wednesday, Nov. 24, respectively. Thursday, Nov. 25, is anticipated to be the least busy day.
